wear out climate change: sewing a boxy tee

vivien wise

I created a presentation and workshop for the Vox Populi Gallery in Philadelphia and then a consequent video and PDF for the Chicago Public Library on how to make a simple, boxy tee using sustainable materials. The workshop was for a project called Wear Out Climate Change - looking at slow fashion, sustainable fashion, and ethical fashion and how we as individuals can be a part of those movements. It starts with sourcing your materials!

What is Slow Fashion? What does it mean when fabric is ethical or sustainable? Learn how to source environmentally-friendly materials and use them to draft a simple boxy shirt pattern to your measurements. You will learn how to cut out patterns to fit and use basic sewing techniques to construct a shirt. A sewing machine is recommended but not necessary.
