We’re currently seeking new members to join us!
just femme & dandy is managed and published by a tiny but mighty team of LGBTQIA+ editors and artists interested in how fashion within queer community offers expressions related to potentiality, reclamation, identity, joy, and connection.
We publish under three main platforms: the just femme & dandy mixtape, a curated selection of zines, mini-chapbooks, posters, broadsides, and stickers packaged within a vinyl dust jacket (with big dreams to someday include a record with a recording from a contributor); our Vimeo channel (very much a work in progress, a curated channel that includes short - or long - films, drag performances, and other short videos); and our Medium page (which needs major love), which includes current, on-the-beat takes related to queer fashion, as well as what's happening in pop culture, etc.
*
We need specific support in the following listed positions, but we also think and operate very much as a collective, so we are also looking for members who has skillsets across design, editing, marketing, event coordination, bookkeeping, etc, in which we contribute as needed. If you see ways you can contribute that aren’t mentioned but are interested in being part of our mission and project, please reach out!
Production Manager - The PM manages the printing and distributing of our mixtape, so if you love sending things in the mail, this is your bag!
Social Media Manager - The SMM posts our announcements, promotion of new publications, etc., but also has initiative for innovative content.
Head of Special Projects - The HSP is an events coordinator but also contributes ideas for larger initiatives related to queer fashion.
*We could always use financial/business/bookkeeping support on an as-needed basis.*
just femme & dandy is anti-racist, pro-Black, and always working to be accessible and adaptable to all manners of working, learning, and living. We ask for communication, commitment, and heart. We’re interested in working with both new and established writers, artists, editors, designers, and publishers, as just femme & dandy has always aimed to operate as a laboratory environment where those less experienced can learn the skills they need to continue to grow in their own ambitions, and those more established can learn new ideas in an environment based in generosity and reciprocity.
If any of this sounds exciting to you (or you see other ways you can contribute), please reach out at addie@justfemmeanddandy.com
We sometimes can pay, dependent on grants. We get very few submissions, and we publish when we can, no more than twice a year.
If interested, please send a letter of interest, including your editing experience as well as your interest in LGBTQIA+ fashion (you do not need to be an expert in fashion in the traditional sense, but an interest and excitement in it is vital) to addie@justfemmeanddandy.com.
